It is acknowledged that life is movement, and no one can live a good life without doing sports. Cheshire Academy has provided students many opportunities to exercise by requiring us to participate in three seasons of activities. These activities include mostly sports, some arts, service and academic program for only a few students. In my opinion, most students should be required to be involved in two sports after school and each sport should last for half a year based on the best outcomes for personal health and skill practicing.
To begin with, doing sports is good for students on both physical and mental health. There are many advantages of exercising. For example, running can improve physical agility, endurance and cardiopulmonary function; Playing badminton can help stretch the vertebration; Dancing can increase the flexibility of body. Actually, all sports can strengthen muscles of different part on body. Besides physical health, doing sports can also help release pressure and enhance one's willpower. Research shows that after hours intention work, our brain would be really tired. At this situation, the brain needs some physical action to help it relax rather than sleep. Take me for an example, exercise extremely changed my physical health. In the beginning of my ninth grade, I was forced to face a harsh PE exam in April. This exam included standing long jump, "sit and reach" test for flexibility and 800 meter running. As for me, the previous two events were easy to handle, however, 800 meter running could absolutely kill me. Reluctantly, I was demanded to run 1500 meter a day by the PE teacher. It was a time that I never want to recall. I ran under the bright sun every day, feeling my skin to be burnt. I wanted to give up for thousands of times. Obviously, I insisted and I passed the exam with an excellent grade. However, I felt some fantastic changes in my body. I had had trachitis for many years and every spring I would cough for more than two weeks. Nevertheless, since that spring, I have never coughed again. Every time I gasped deeply, my trachea was healed a little. Every time I moved my arms, my mind got a little stronger. Therefore, our body and brain all need sports to keep them balanced and healthy.
Furthermore, doing two sports in a year can help most students practice the essential skills well, meanwhile develop various hobbies. To learn a sport, there are a lot more things to do than learning the basic postures. Physical fitness training, basic rules and higher skills are all needed to be coached. However, one season is not enough to complete all of them. During the winter season, I have practiced yoga. We spent many time understanding the meaning of yoga, the way to breath and the separated postures. After a long time, we were able to start the easiest coherent sequence. It was just like planting a seed of yoga in our mind. However, the season finished. And the seed was not able to grow from the earth. If there were extra three weeks to practice, the seed would burst out and grow into a tree. Some people may ask, why not just play one sport for the whole year? There are many reasons. Firstly, students may feel tiresome by doing the same sport for an entire year without any changes. Secondly, learning to play more sports can be useful for social intercourse in the future. For instance, my mother can play golf well and often negotiates business at the golf courts. She tells me that people would admire her when they have the same hobby and the agreement would be easier to make. However, for people who do not know how to play golf, my mom will invite them to play badminton. She expresses her self-confidence and conscientious attitude to her business partners while doing sports and convince them that she would be the best choice to work with. Therefore, playing multiple sports well can be useful for us to make friends and persuade them.
In conclusion, it is necessary to play two sports in a year for the after school activities. It can provide students opportunities to obtain better health and skills. Do not complain that doing sports occupies the time of your studying and playing games; It is a lot worthier. Move your body away from that bed; Move your eyes away from that computer. Do not hesitate to do sports happily which can transform your life into a colorful adventure.
