Guess who is coming? !

Graduation season is arriving! Cheshire Academy  has already invited 220 amazing people to speak for, encourage and inspire those students who are going to face college and social lives. This year, guess who is coming to Cheshire Academy? Jeff Furman! You may not know him by name, but you will appreciate the "sweet experience" which he would bring with him and recognize him immediately(cheshireacademy.org). 

 

According to wikipedia, the international company that Jeff works has an unusual history. Being dejected by the ideal jobs, a man called Jerry Greenfield started the ice cream company with his " childhood friend" Ben Cohen in 1978, while Jeff " helped them write the first business plan for the original store"(Cheshireacademy.org). They sold their products near a gas station with only a few people buying at the beginning. However, those two young men didn't give up. With a tentative sense of gustatory because of anosmia, Ben created up to 70 flavors for the company nowadays. Jerry and Ben managed the company in a fair and honest manner. For instance, they rejected to get milk from the cloned cows and opened up the "clone tracking system" (wikipedia.org). 

 

For Jeff, his job is to make the company both"doing well and doing good"(myrecordjournal.com). Since the Ben and Jerry's foundation has been founded, Jeff dedicates effort making the company good and helpful for society. As the website of the foundation indicate, the company donated to the charity 7.5% of their total outcomes for the first time and "is named the winner of the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy's Corporate Grantmaker for 2014"(benandjerrysfoundation.org). There are not many companies who are willing to dedicate a large amount of their profit into philanthropy. Therefore, what the foundation does is honorable.  

 

This commencement must be meaningful for Jeff Furman, who hasn't came back to Cheshire Academy since his graduation 50 years ago. When he was studying Cheshire Academy, I bet that he had never thought that he would become a trustee for an ice cream company when he wrote down his ideal goal:"to be a chemical engineer"(cheshireacademy.org). Can you imagine that he even worked as a bus driver rather than become a lawyer or businessman after he studied for those aspects? How distinctive he is. And for sure, his distinction helps him to find a great job which he puts all his passions into it. 

 

Jeff is an amiable person with an extremely kind heart since he has gotten in touch with charities for many years.  Doing good for the society does not only mean donating money, but expressing ideas and experience to others.Do not hesitate coming to the commencement with your families and friends. I bet that it would be one of the most important experience in your life.
