You are the sky full of stars^*^

As we are living in the modern world with high technology , I bet that most of us have seen this picture before and even know something about it although we haven't traveled abroad to see the real one. However, do you really understand the emotions and the messages expressed by Vicent Van Gogh, the insane painter of this masterpiece? Have you noticed the contradiction between peace and mania which shows the confused emotion? If your answer is no, please follow me and go deep into The Starry Night.

First of all, the picture shows the peace of the village. Have you seen that? The village is surrounded by the mountains with some orange candles lit. The rotated shine of the stars and moon makes the roofs gold. The small farmhouses were arranged optionally. They are just like babies lying in their mom's arms. Night comes and wind blows, the small village is totally in peaceful condition. Imagine that you are lying on the roof with someone your like, chatting and laughing a lot. Then you raise your head, there are stars filling the sky.  How beautiful the scene is!

Nevertheless, the other parts of the  drawing are not in the same tone as the village. Look at the tree right on the left of the painting. It is withered, and acts like a claw of a hungry monster or burning fire. It is dark and extend from the ground to the sky. There is no leaves or flowers on its crooked trunk at all. The only color we can see is brown, even black. We can not see the top of it, which make us feel even more uncomfortable. Besides, the shape of the sky is just like a blue storm which may attack the village seriously. Stars and sky are mixed together like a huge vertex which can inhale the village anytime. 

With the contradiction of the silent, peaceful village and manic, tempestuous sky, we can easily notice that our painter totally showed his confusion at that time. He wanted to show the peaceful and nice things, but the monster in his mind obviously disturbed him which made him confused. Brightness and darkness were both existing in him mind which is revealed in the painting.
